Description

Adil is a British national of Sudanese origin. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Khartoum, Sudan in 1981. He completed his postgraduate studies at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) in England, where he was awarded M.Sc. degree in Thermofluids in 1985 and Ph.D. in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in 1988. Currently working as an advanced Professional Engineer for Airbus company in the UK. Adil has a comprehensive academic, industrial and research experience. Adil takes continuous education and improvement seriously and attending many academic, professional, project and resource management training courses and international conferences as a matter of course.

Adil was awarded a number of prizes and awards for my academic performance at under and postgraduate levels as well as awards of excellence by Airbus for exceptional performance and team working. As part of my quest for continuous development, I have become a Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.). The C.Eng. Designation is granted by the British Engineering Council, and recognised worldwide as a proof of high standard of professional experience and conduct. I followed that up to become EurIng, the European sister of the C.Eng., granted by the European Federation of the National Engineering Associations (FEANI).

Taking environmental issues seriously, had now been seconded by Airbus to the UK government funded FlyZero project to work collaboratively with other aviation partners to develop a concept for an environmentally-friendly zero carbon dioxide emission commercial aircraft to enter into service by 2030.

Adil current research interest covers aspects of CFD, aircraft safety as well as airport capacity planning issues. Coming from a Sudanese background, he also have a special interest in topics related to industry, education and sustainable development with special emphasis on achieving the UN SDGs in Africa and particularly in the Sudan. His research activities are reported in a number of books, journals and conference papers in addition to many technical reports. Adil is an active member of the World Association for Sustainable Development (WASD) and Associate Editor of the Journal of World Review of Science, Technology and Sustainable Development (WRSTSD) since its inception in 2003.

Besides being a family man, Adil is also proactively involved in community development work. He is currently a member of the British Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS), chairperson of the Sudanese Engineering Society in the UK & Ireland (SESUKI) as well as chair of the Sudanese Community Association of Bristol (SCAOB). He is also have a wider general interest in sport, literature and world affairs.
