Description
Mr. Abdelgadir Salih has two Master degrees in Engineering from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom, including Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering (2002) and Master of Science (ENG) in (2004). He is working for UNESCO Khartoum Office as National Programme Officer for Natural Sciences and Culture since September 2016. This role has led him to manage, design, implement and supervise related Natural Sciences and Culture programmes in Sudan, such as International Hydrological Programme (IHP), Man and Biosphere (MAB), International Geosciences and Geoparks Programme (IGGP), in addition to Living Heritage, Tangible Heritage, Museums, World Heritage Sites and Sustainable Tourism. He has implemented with UNESCO until May 2020, about 37 activities including projects, conferences, workshops, seminars and celebrations. He managed in coordination with UNESCO other offices and national partners in Sudan about 21 water activities (including projects, workshops, conferences, trainings, seminars and Networks), helping Sudan toward IWRM and resilience against water scarcity. Also managed establishment and implementation of two major projects that supported gender equality in the STEM sector in Sudan (STEM Girls Clubs and SAGA). In addition to managing celebration of International day for Women and Girls in Science in 2018 and 2019. In addition to promoting Nanotechnology in Sudan through managing the preparation of draft report and workshop. Managed the two visits of Directors of EES Division to Sudan to promote environment conservation in Red Sea state and Sudan, and implementing workshop for MAB and for promotion of IGGP in Sudan. In addition, managed coordination with UNDP to ensure UNESCO is a partner in their Protected Areas in Sudan project. In addition to managing consultancy on Potential Biosphere Reserves in Red Sea state and expert meeting on Marine Heritage sites. Additionally, he has managed the design, implementation and evaluation of culture sector programmes in Sudan, including Tangible Heritage, Museums, Living Heritage and Sustainable Tourism. This includes the project on Strengthening National Capacities for Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage in Sudan, ongoing project for Rehabilitation of National Museum in Sudan.
